2011 Cambridge Idaho Farm Safety Day

Farm Safety Day reaches numerous kids and adults!

The 2011 Cambridge Progressive Agriculture Farm Safety Day was a huge success.  Eighty-eight participants, along with almost 75 adult volunteers and parents participated in the second farm safety day sponsored by the Progressive Agriculture Foundation.  The Washington County fairgrounds and exhibit hall in Cambridge, Id was the perfect location for kids and adults to learn about 10 specific safety areas.

The Weiser River Cattle Association was the major sponsor for the event, thus leading to the 10 groups named after local ranches.  Each “herd” included 8-10 kids of similar age, an adult leader, as well as a high school leader.  The herds were rotated between the stations throughout the day.

Station leader also did a great job of teaching each group the importance of their station.

Stations included:

  • An obstacle course game to teach groups about underground dig-lines (taught by Carson Kindall)
  • ATV safety with jello brains taught by Adam Papineau and Steve Braun
  • A truly hands-on fire station, complete with real fire and fire extinguishers, lead by Rob Vowell and Kyle Stapleton.
  • PTO Safety, taught by Dave and Ally Kuther, along with Tractor/Pinch Point safety, (taught by Clark Heuterman,) drove home the message of safety around large machinery.
